Early Musical Journey

Jonas Reingold's passion for music ignited at a young age. He began with the classical violin at nine, transitioned to guitar at twelve, and ultimately found his true calling with the bass at sixteen. Reflecting on his early days, Reingold shares, "I started with violin when I was 9, then I switched to guitar at 12, then I started with bass at age 16."

The Birth of Karmakanic

In 2002, Reingold founded Karmakanic, a progressive rock project that allowed him to explore and express his unique musical ideas. He explains, "I come up with the songs and the guys contribute with their musicianship and personality."

'Transmutation': The New Album

After an eight-year hiatus, Karmakanic returns with 'Transmutation', set to release on March 7, 2025. Reingold describes the album as his boldest artistic vision yet, pushing progressive rock to new heights. The album features collaborations with esteemed musicians, including Steve Hackett, Simon Phillips, Nick D'Virgilio, Craig Blundell, John Mitchell, and Randy McStine. Reflecting on these collaborations, Reingold states, "I have to pinch my arm thinking who's actually on the album. All heroes of mine and I'm truly humble and thankful that they have given me a part of their talent to shape this album."

Themes and Inspirations

The title 'Transmutation' reflects the constant change in life and music. Reingold elaborates, "Transmutation, that means something transforms into a new state of being, the universe is in a constant flux so that goes for my music too."

Touring with Steve Hackett

Since 2019, Reingold has been touring with acclaimed guitarist Steve Hackett. He shares insights into this experience, highlighting the challenges and rewards of performing live and the personal expression it allows in music.

Supporting Independent Music

He encourages fans to purchase physical copies of albums and support independent labels, stating, "Buy from the local record dealer." He also highlights the challenges musicians face in the current industry, noting that touring is increasingly expensive and that musicians often receive payment last. "Art just isn't free," he asserts, underscoring the need for investment and support from fans.

In an era where technology is rapidly advancing, Reingold stresses the significance of genuine musical expression. He believes that the creative process is deeply personal and human, and that AI cannot replace the emotional depth of human-created art.
